Die Wadvogel ist eine Weiterentwicklung des Wadkat, mit dem der Konstrukteur JanBart de Jong zeigen wollte, dass eine verbesserte Version der Wharram Katamarane aus den Sechzigern höher am Wind segeln kann. Die "Astus" wurde vom Konstrukteur ursprünglich für sich selbst gebaut. Sie ist gut gepflegt und steht zum Verkauf, da der jetzige Eigner sich allmählich nach etwas mehr Komfort umschaut. Die Wadvogel 33 ist ein ideales Schiff für die Wattensee, aber auch problemlos nutzbar für die Überquerung der Nordsee Richtung England oder Schweden.
